ChemWater WP4- ChemWater & E4Water Joint Workshop 1-  Industrial Water Management on the edge to HORIZON 2020-

Defining actions towards the Industrial Water Vision 2050 -

The ChemWater workshop was held on 7 March 2013 in Brussels.  It was a joint workshop with the E4Water project.

ChemWater has developed its Industrial Water Vision 2050 together with many of you in previous workshops. Now it’s time to discuss recommendations and actions that are leading towards the realization of the Vision 2050. Horizon 2020, the EIP on Water, PPPs as SPIRE, are initiatives ChemWater is addressing its final action plan to. The workshop was organized around Research & Technology Development, Demonstration and Innovation. Round table discussions allowed to actively discuss, contribute and reaching conclusions.

The results of the workshop will feed into ChemWater’s recommendations to on-going and upcoming EU-Programmes and Initiatives.

WP3 - Set of 3 workshops on Water Sustainable Process Industry 2050

¤ ChemWater WP3- Workshop 3 "Vision 2050 : Materials, processes, technologies on Water Sustainable Process Industry"

The 3rd ChemWater workshop was held on September 5th 2012 in Brussels. This workshop was the third one in a sequence in which a vision for a water sustainable process industry in 2050 was developed and tools and methodologies were identified. It will focus on processes, materials and technologies needed to reach the vision that was defined in previous workshops  (ProgramFlyer)

We would like to thank all the participants for their active participation in the Chemwater workshop. We have had a lot of input that we can use to extend the vision and to develop a roadmap regarding the technological, process and materials challenges that we foresee.

Over 40 participants were present.

¤ ChemWater WP3- Workshop 2 on Water Sustainable Process Industry 2050 : Methods and tools

The 2nd ChemWater workshop was held on 24 May 2012 in Brussels. This workshop was a satellite event of the Green Week (http://ec.europa.eu/environment/greenweek/).

During this workshop, we identified gaps that prevail reaching the vision that was set in a previous workshop (March 2012). We focused on new tools and methodologies, technology gaps as well as needs from other sectors to reach a water sustainable process industry in 2050.

The results of this workshop will be used as a basis to be included in the European R&D Agenda, in programs like PPP’s, EIP, JPI, Horizon 2020, etc. During this workshop case studies (2030) will be identified as stepping stones to the vision 2050.

The output of the ChemWater project will be directly linked to the European Innovation Partnership on Water, and will provide information to set the priorities for research and innovation in the Strategic Implementation Plan of the EIP and therefore the reference for future calls. The aim of the EIP on Water is to position Europe as the world leader in sustainable water management by boosting innovation.

    33 participants were present.

    ¤  Chemwater WP3- Workshop 1 - "Water Sustainable Process Industry : Vision 2050"

The inaugural ChemWater workshop on "Water Sustainable Process industry: Vision 2050" was held on March 1st 2012 in Brussels. It was hosted in Eureka local.

    participants_fig.png

Over 50 participants were present. Numerous industry sectors were represented including the water, chemical, oil and gas, mineral resources, textiles, industrial biotechnology as well as research institutes and academia which together gave valuable contributions and outlined their vision for water in the process industry moving towards 2050.

The workshop was opened and chaired by Albert Jansen and Adriaan Slob from TNO.

During this workshop, the following topics were discussed :

    - The world in 2050: scenario’s and vision 2050 from Wbcsd

    - Presentation of the global water tool – World business council on sustainable development

    - Industry in 2050: vision, challenges and solutions

    - Discussions to set a vision and seek for synergies for sustainable water use in the process industry.

The discussions were focused on : "What is sustainable water use?, Water is cross sectorial : how do companies see the cooperation across sectors?, How do we make it work regarding governance and what financial mechanisms de we need?"

The results of this workshop will be used to set up the vision on sustainable water use in the process industry in 2050.
